Redes project

Redes project

Concurso Artifica la UC 2023, Dirección de Artes y Cultura.
Vicerrectoría de Investigación, UC.

Redes proposes as its principal material the plastic mesh bags typically used in supermarkets to pack fruits and vegetables, which were reused to create evocative images emphasizing the color. The abstract images of each work seek to visually convey the power of their color and suggest visual movement through a material that is usually discarded and sometimes recycled. For the redes project, the most common colors of these mesh bags were selected: yellow, green, red and violet (two primary and two secondary colors).

Each of the four images seeks to express visual movement by reusing elements that hardly have a second use, thus presenting an ecological aspect of the proposal and employing, at the same time, materials present in our daily lives. Through redes, everyday objects can also gain beauty and meaning from an art perspective.

The specific objectives of this project are: to publicize the visual qualities of ordinary material, loaded with creative and expressive possibilities; to reuse material from commercial and industrial waste for expressive and artistic purposes; and to configure images that generate visual movement and stimulate the viewer’s imagination.
